GAMBIA’S HEALTH SECTOR FOR THE FIRST TIME HAS A Woman With Heard Of Hearing as QUALIFIED NURSE

As part of the collective strive of Persons With Disabilities tn ensuring that, PWDS are employed by the states and other stakeholders as enshrined in Article 27 of UNCRPD, a Woman With Heard of Hearing called Binta Bajo after her intensive studies of Nursing at the American International University successfully becomes a qualified and professional nurse in the Health sector. She has drawn the attention of many while working as incredible nurse. She is posted at Sukuta Health Centre correcting diagnosing and making correct prescription to patients.

When I had cause to interview Binta Bajo about her feelings as With Heard of Hearing, she said the job is an enjoyable one. She said it is just a matter of providing her Sign Language Interpreter for her to understand what patients complains of and to give them right prescriptions. She said the work is easy and hoped that other Persons with Heard of Hearings will follow her footsteps to study nursing and become either like her or more than her.
